Coming soon for Mac

Ubieram is built to keep your data on your Mac. In line with the GDPR, this page explains what the app and this website process, and what they don’t.

Data controller

Lohan Fernandes, sole proprietor, 19 rue de l'Épine Blanche, 77320 Frétoy, France. For any question about your data: lhn.fe@hotmail.com.

In the app

The app has no account, no usage statistics and no analytics, and it sends nothing about your activity. It only goes online to check for updates and to activate your license.

  • Window titles, Safari and Chrome tab addresses, your notes and your history are read and stored on your Mac only. Activity details are deleted after 7 days; notes and snapshots stay until you delete them. The app’s settings let you erase everything.
  • Note suggestions are written by the Apple Intelligence model built into your Mac, without any server.
  • The app never records your screen: it reads window titles through the macOS Accessibility permission.
  • If you allow it, the app reads your calendar on your Mac to know when your meetings start. It stores nothing from it and sends nothing.
  • To notice when a call ends, the app only checks whether the microphone is in use by another app. It never listens to or records sound, and doesn’t need the Microphone permission.
  • The thoughts you park and the state of your projects (name, last workspace) are stored on your Mac only. A project’s name is worked out on your Mac from the folder, the Git repository or the window title.
  • Your license key, its activation and the trial start date are stored in the macOS keychain.
  • To activate your license, and about once a week to check it, the app sends ubieram.com the key, an anonymous identifier of your Mac (a hash of its hardware identifier, which itself never leaves the Mac), and the Mac’s name and model, so you can see and remove your activated Macs. Once activated, the license also works offline.
  • The app also checks whether an update is available. As with any web request, the server hosting updates receives your IP address and the app version.

On this website

  • The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies and uses no tracking tools.
  • If you pick a language other than your browser’s, a session cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) remembers it until you close the browser. This cookie is needed for the service you asked for, so it doesn’t require consent.
  • Vercel Inc., the host, processes technical connection data (IP address, browser, pages requested) to serve and protect the website, based on legitimate interest.
  • The assistant at the bottom of the FAQ sends your question to Anthropic’s Claude model, through Vercel’s AI Gateway, to write the answer. The publisher does not keep questions; please don’t type personal information in them.
  • To keep bots away from the assistant and from the license recovery form, the website uses Vercel BotID, which checks signals from your browser when you send them (legitimate interest: preventing abuse).
  • To limit abuse, requests are counted per visitor under a salted hash of the IP address, deleted within a day.

When you buy

  • Payment is handled by Paddle.com Market Limited, the merchant of record and an independent data controller for payment and billing data. Its privacy policy applies (paddle.com).
  • Paddle sends the publisher your email address, name, country and order number. They are used to create your license key, send it to you, and send it again if you lose it (performance of the contract).
  • We store your license (email address, name, order number and an encrypted copy of the key) and the Macs you activate (anonymous identifier, name, model and dates) to deliver the license, let you manage your Macs, and send the key again if you lose it. Your key is emailed to you through Resend, Inc.

If you contact support

Your messages and email address are only used to reply to you.

Recipients and transfers

Your data is never sold or rented. It is processed by the publisher and by these providers:

  • Vercel Inc. (United States), website hosting.
  • Resend, Inc. (United States), license emails.
  • Neon, Inc. (United States, data stored in the European Union), the database of licenses and activations.
  • Anthropic, PBC (United States), through Vercel’s AI Gateway, answers of the FAQ assistant.
  • Paddle.com Market Limited (United Kingdom), payment, invoicing and taxes.
  • Transfers to the United States are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. The United Kingdom benefits from a European Commission adequacy decision.

Retention

  • License information (email, name, country, order number, date): ten years after purchase, the retention period for accounting records. It also lets us send your key again.
  • Support conversations: three years after the last contact.
  • Activated Macs: until you remove them, and at most as long as the license information.
  • Assistant questions: not kept by the publisher. Request counters: deleted within a day.
  • Host technical logs: according to Vercel Inc.’s policy.
